CryoLife was founded for the purpose of improving health and quality of life around the world. We are not only committed, but also passionate about utilizing our expertise and resources to better our community and invest in the lives of others.

This year, CryoLife is committed to helping further the mission of the Aswan Heart Center in Aswan, Egypt through a fundraising campaign.

The Aswan Heart Center offers state-of-the-art, free medical services to Egyptians and to people in the surrounding areas including Sudan, particularly to underprivileged people and to vulnerable age groups.

In fact, 60% of patients treated at Aswan Heart Center are children. In 2017, nearly 1,000 open cardiac surgeries were performed, many on children who would have died without treatment.

Additionally, Aswan Heart Center is committed to training a generation of young Egyptian doctors, nurses and scientists, and advancing basic science and applied research, and promoting biomedical research in Egypt.

Aswan Heart Center is part of the Magdi Yacoub Foundation, one of the most renowned charity organizations in Egypt. The Foundation is responsible for strategic management and administration of the AHC. Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub is Chairman of the Aswan Heart Center Executive Board that is in charge of the Centre's day-to-day operations and oversight

Dr. Yacoub is a pioneer in heart surgery including heart transplantation, modern arterial switch operations, use of ventricular assist devices and the Ross Procedure.

The goal is for CryoLife employees to raise $50,000. CryoLife will match that amount for a total of $100,000. The fundraising period is between November 1 and December 1.
